John "STRIKER" Slade is a Vietnam veteran (vet) who has had a hard time reintegrating with society, and is reduced to working in a launderette in Miami. A group of Miami businessmen blackmail "STRIKER" into going to Nicaragua to bring out Morris, one of his war-time buddies, who is now a freelance journalist and is being held by the Sandinists, marta, a stunningly beautiful Creole girl, contacts "STRIKER" as soon as he arrives in managua, telling him that she and an Austrian helicopter pilot will take him as near as possible to the prison in which Morris is being held, meanwhile, kariazin, the Russian head of Sandinist Cournter intelligence ans Santiago, a ruthless Nicaraguan collaborating with him, have also been informed of "STRIKER" arrival and they launch a complex militry operation to capture him before he can spring Morris. "STRIKER" constanlty outwits the Sandinists with sheer animal cunning and succeeds in liberating his buddy. it is then that he tells "STRIKER"that the Miami group trafficks in arms and he has the proof that will blow their operation wide open. The know this, and they have sent "STRIKER" to spring him in order to eliminate him.. The Miami group has given Marta the job of killing Morris, threatening to harm members of her family if she refuses, but she fails to do it, and the helicopter pilot, in the pay of the Miami group, eliminates him. Alone, in enemy country, he cold-bloodedly hunts down and eliminates Kariazan, Santiago and the pilot , then he returns to Miami and eliminates the members of the group.
