Two United States Air Force F16 fighter jets make a routine reconnaissance run in the no-fly zone, when unexpectedly the enemy's jetliner is spotted in NATO airspace. Captain Lee Banning (Robert Patrick) on alert, prepares to chase the straggler home. Captain John "Doc"Holiday (Rutger Hauer) flies in for a closer look, signalizing a warning to retreat. Suddenly, out of nowhere, three enemy's Migs close in, opening fire on the F-16s and launching their missiles. Doc and banning retaliate and dogfight rages until Doc takes a hit, and plummets to the enemy's soil in an inferno. But Lee banning witnessed something that night, in the pitch black sky, a terrible truth he could never reveal. And the dark secret would come back to haunt him 7 years later when Doc escapes from the enemy's prison. Holding Banning responsible for torture he endured, Doc sets out with steely determination to systematically destroy his old friend. BanningÕs world begins to fall apart as Doc spreads lies to his superiors and terrorizes his pregnant wife. Faced with a very real Bosnian threat, Banning and his crew depart on a mission to destroy the enemy base. But Banning has more than the Bosnians to fear when discovers that Doc has hijacked an F-16 with the intention of shooting him down. Realizing Doc will stop at nothing until he is dead, Banning must face his former friend in an air battle in which there can only be one survivor.
