Based on the animal classic by Sir Percy Fitzpatrick, "Jock of the Bushveld" The enchanting story of a man and his dog set in the wilds of Africa in the late 1800's.
When 20-year old Percy Fitzpatrick (SEAN GALLAGHER) hears of the gold rush in the Eastern Tranvaal, he quits his job - to seek his fortune.
On the wagon trip from the coast, Fitz saves the runt of Jess's litter from being drowned, The runt, "Jock" becomes his. There was no truer word than the old saying, "True possession can turn sand into gold". Fitz found no gold, but Jock became more valuable to him than any gold he could find.
During their travels they meet up with Rocky (ROBERT URICH), an American prospector who not only teaches Fitz and Jock to hunt, but also becomes their friend and mentor.
Fitz and Jock have all sorts adventure: They have many thrilling encounters with big game. Jess is killed by a porcupine when one of its quills goes through her throat. Fitz and Jock finally face Seedling in a showdown that pits Jock against the madm killer baboon.
It is a story of loyatly and courage set in a beautiful and untamed Africa.
