After having lived for 18 years in a mental institution, Augusto Scribani returns to normal life. He is now over 60 years old and the usually calm expression of his eyes, from time to time shows a strange sparkle, signs of his past folly. The people living in the world he has returned to, say that he is crazy. But the more we get to know him, the more we come to the conclusion that not he but the others are crazy , people like us, caught in the clutches of a system which forces us to live within certain restraints and unwritten canons which, as time goes on, will certainly make us lose some of our faculties.
